Who We Are
Welcome to Small Town Allies Against Nicotine Dependency (STAAND)-Sutter. We are dedicated to promoting a healthier future for the community. Our program is committed to addressing the unique challenges and needs of rural populations in their journey towards tobacco-free lives.
STAAND-Sutter is a program of the California Health Collaborative (CHC). CHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the health needs of Californians with a special emphasis on underserved communities with limited access to resources or who face barriers related to culture, language, income, education, gender, geography or immigration status. CHC has many different programs in areas of mental health, health services, youth development, tobacco prevention, and more. OUR GOALS
Through targeted initiatives, education, and community engagement, we aim to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and resources needed to break free from the grip of tobacco addiction.
With a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and understanding, we strive to create a supportive environment where residents can access cessation services, learn about the dangers of tobacco use, and discover effective strategies for prevention.
With support from the community and local decision-makers, our goal is to limit youth access to tobacco products through the implementation of a tobacco retail licensing policy (TRL) in the unincorporated Sutter County. Tobacco retail licenses are used to inhibit advertising and marketing toward youth and young adults as well as to promote enforcement to eliminate youth access to tobacco products.
At STAAND-Sutter, we firmly believe that every member of the community deserves the opportunity to live a smoke-free and healthier life. Join us in our mission to reduce tobacco consumption, improve overall well-being, and build a vibrant, tobacco-free future for all. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the health and happiness of our community.
